Acktar Light Absorbing Coatings for Energetic Laser Applications

Acktar Black coatings are excellent performers where a combination of high absorptance and high tolerance of laser energy is required.

The Laser Induced Damage Threshold (LIDT) of a coating cannot be stated in general but depends upon a number of factors – wave length, pulse width, pulse rate, laser waveform, etc.
In the case of Acktar coatings – which absorb light – the LIDT depends also upon the ability of the substrate to quickly disperse the absorbed thermal energy.

Acktar coatings have been tested under a variety of test conditions and the results presented show that Acktar Black Coatings exhibit very impressive LIDT values under a broad variety of conditions and constitute an excellent choice where a combination of high absorptance and high tolerance of laser energy is required.
